Feeling Burnout Vs. Renewed Energy- What do you Feel?

You feel very different things when you experience burnout versus renewed energy. Become in tune with how each makes you feel so you can begin to evoke the story you want for your life.

Burnout energy is that draining feeling you have when something exhausts you. Do you feel pressure in your head or tightness in your stomach?

What are some things that drain your energy? Is it being stuck in traffic? Or maybe it is being late for an important meeting?  Maybe for you it is anticipated conflict?

What are somethings that renew your energy? Massage, sleep, play with friends?

Take some time and write out what burnout and renewing your energy feels like for you.

How do you renew your energy?

My number one way to renew is solo time with silence. Mine may be different from yours.  Writing down what you feel helps you to realize more quickly that you are living in your energy or living in burnout...

What’s Your story? How do you Evoke Your Story?

When you design your story and engage in every part of your life, you start speaking from the core of who you are with purpose. Work gets easier, it's clear, it's fun, and you're in a more effective leader.

In order to evoke and design your desired leadership story, you need to know what your values are. I’ve lined up a few questions that will help you to better understand your values:

What gets you fired up and passionate?

What needs are non-negotiable to be your very best self?

What moves you?

Who or what inspires you?

What stories do you tell about that?

What is your center? There must be something special inside. Look closer, what do you see?

What are you uniquely put into the world for?

What makes you so fierce that you can't help but protect this thing in the world? What is your unique thing?

In order to express your story, and then work to protect it. In order to fully engage in...

Burnout to Connection for Full Engagement

Are you burned out or disengaged?

Or maybe your feeling disconnected?

Let’s talk about how to shift from the experience of being burned out in relationships, at home, or at work.

Today, I want to explore the component of disconnection/depersonalization and help you shift to the ENGAGED experience of being connected, involved, seen and heard with a sense of belonging. Burnout is characterized by exhaustion, depersonalization, cynicism and the feeling of not be accomplished.

Depersonalization happens when we protect ourselves from the painful things that we witness in our service(s), such as lack of outcomes, recurrent difficult situations, and conflict. This is common in public service professions where we exhibit a large amount of empathy and over time, find ways to disconnect so we don’t feel the pain of others. We also do this in order to not feel as deeply in order to cope and continue to do our work.

Depersonalization begins as protection but...

Backpacking Coaching Retreat

A few nights of retreat into the woods, carrying everything you need, right there in your back pack is a gift. It is a gift of power and authenticity as you push yourself and learn about your own personal strength. We invite you to give yourself this gift!

A wilderness coaching retreat might be right for YOU if you;
• Are in a place of transition.
• Are hoping to rediscover passion in your work or looking for different meaningful work.
• Are hungry for time to reconnect to you.
• Are looking for a way to push yourself into something new.

The Experience
A backpacking wilderness retreat is a multiple overnight “all inclusive” empowerment experience. It is a chance to be awake for the moments. It is a chance to be who you are, without societal expectations to perform or be in a particular role. No labels, no titles. Just boots, sunscreen, a backpack full of food and the tools you need for your own discovery.
A coaching retreat is a physical strength building...

Improve your Leadership effectiveness and Prevent Burnout

In addition to decreased energy and feeling disconnected or cynical, burnout is also characterized by feelings of low accomplishment. Not feeling accomplished is a real and felt experience EVEN when we are effective.

The push to do better, achieve more, to be good enough or to get acknowledged creates more pressure and more work. It becomes a coping to fill a void or to continue to try to validate our worth. This feeling perpetuates a feeling of low energy, and not feeling connected when we hold back in our relationships or we work harder, which is exhausting.

Our belief in our ability to succeed is influenced by past results, feeling relevant, being recognized by others for our contributions, and encouragement and championship specifically from people we can relate to, who inspire us or who’s opinion matters.

When we are feeling effective, (productive, constantly learning, accomplished, successful…whatever word you would use for that feeling) we are...

The Opportunity to be a Great Warrior

Uncategorized Apr 02, 2019

This is my opportunity to be a great warrior.  Stepping forward and taking hold of it.  I’m armed with the little dipper full of dreams and possibilities and ideas.  Sprinkling almost like pixie dust to get things flowing.  The little pouring at the top of their heads when I’m present or energetically from afar.  I’m a dream warrior.  An energy spark of enthusiasm and personal power.  Much like inspiration.  And they are struck by an awareness of what they need in order to have their own power and follow it and love themselves while they do it.  It’s silent, the warrior gift.  It’s not aggressive or striking or scary.  A shadow sprinkling but more like a pour over with a thin veil of YES I CAN, delivered magically without even knowing what happened.  As a warrior I evoke the passion, compassion and release of tears and soul, rinsing the body to allow what’s next… whatever comes...

Symbols that Break Through; The Research

Uncategorized Mar 04, 2019

Coaching using metaphor expands the conversation in a creative, imaginative way. Consider the words you’ve heard from clients; I carry the world on my shoulders, I’m between a rock and a hard place, I’m navigating, I can’t see, I’m spinning plates etc. These are examples of words clients use to describe their situation in terms of something else and are not actually their literal truth but instead are metaphors. Typically, the client is not actually spinning plates, and they are not literally holding the world or navigating with a compass and a map, however their words hold a powerful message. They are using language that illustrates their experience symbolically and when a coach listens for these cues, they help clients make observations that are emotionally detached and objective. Drawing attention to the metaphor broadens the conversation to explore what it would be like to experience the situation differently and often offers transformative...

TIME and Quality of Life

Where does the time go?

Memories are a great reminder of time.  A trigger that stops us and demands reflection. A photo, a facebook memory, a discussion with a loved one.  It makes us wonder if we’ve wasted time?

My uncle and I were reflecting on the time when I graduated high school.  At my graduation party in my parent's backyard, he threw me into our pool.  I can remember the playfulness, the laughter and I remember exactly what I was wearing because it was a new outfit for my party. That was 30 years ago.  How in the world could that be 30 years ago? My uncle just said, where does the time go?

I really love to work!  So it's difficult some times to be mindful and present.  It’s an ongoing practice of boundaries, nonnegotiables, mindfulness, and PLAY.

I wish for your time to be chock full of meaningful memories and experiences that make your time rich and not something to manage. Here’s to quality of life.

I’d...
